Tampa Line Stopping

TAMPA FL, February 2010 - When a customer in Tampa Florida needed to upgrade a Lift Station to handle larger capacity flows, they called Rangeline Tapping.

The problem: A Lift Station being upgraded needed to be by-passed while the final connections were being made. Rangeline was contacted for a recommendation on how the station could be isolated for the upgrades while maintaining the flow during this phase.

Rangeline came up with a plan to isolate the Lift Station using 16 inch Line Stops on the ductile iron force main. These Line Stops went through a 12 inch tapped hole and sealed on the I.D. of the 16 inch pipe which had been eroded by the trapped gases in the pipe. Even though this had occurred, the Rangeline Line Stoppers made a workable seal and the tie –ins were made.

Orlando Line Stopping

ORLANDO FL, November 2010 - When Orange County Utilities in Orlando Florida had issues with their 30 inch water main, they called Rangeline Services.

Orange County needed to install four 30 inch In-line Valves to have some control and isolation of their 30 inch 80 PSI Ductile Iron water main line. These 30 inch lines are the main feed lines for critical parts of the west side of the county.

Rangeline performed Double 30 Inch Line Stops isolating sections of the systems while the new 30 inch Valves could be installed. The Rangeline Line Stoppers worked flawlessly and gave a 100% shut down. Orlando Line Stopping Photos

Miami Line Stopping

MIAMI FL, July 2010 -Rangeline Services performed Line stopping and hot tapping for the Miami Dade Water and Sewer Department (MDWASD) on a 48-inch concrete force main. Since the Line Stops had to be installed on two different pipes, these custom made stainless steel Line Stop fittings required two different designs. Both were custom made to fit the different kinds of Concrete pipes.

The first Linestop required a fitting that sealed on the outside of the RCCP concrete pipe. The second Line Stop required a fitting that was made for Pre-stressed Concrete Cylinder pipe known as SP-5 or “LCP” Lined Cylinder pipe. This fitting is made to seal on the Steel Cylinder of the pipe. In order to install this fitting, the 1-inch Mortar Coat has to be removed and the pre-stressed wires exposed to provide access to the steel cylinder.

These Line Stops were needed to facilitate the installation of an in-line 48-inch diameter Plug Valve. This valve was needed so that product can be diverted to another wastewater treatment plant in case of any problems in the future.

Installation of these double 48-inch line stops on PCCP/RCCP with sewage flows at 40 PSI. provided quite a challenge when one section of pipe was found to have had over 2 feet of sediment in the pipe. Rangeline’s technicians’ were still able to provide a 100% shut down. Miami Line Stopping Photos

Line Stopping in Sarnia Canada

SARNIA CA, February 2010 - When our customers in Canada have piping problems, they call Rangeline Tapping for help! In Sarnia Canada, they had a 36 inch PCCP water main which supplies two large industrial plants.

The problem: This 36 inch pipe line is the most critical in the city because the line was feeding the two plants which operated 24/7 and the water supply couldn’t be interrupted.

Rangeline was contacted about this situation for recommendations on how to divert flow to install a new 36 inch Valve and Flow Meter while keeping the two plants in operation.

Rangeline engineered and designed a plan to utilize a Double 36 inch Line Stop with internal By-Passing through the Line Stoppers, to maintain a constant flow of water to the end users. The Rangeline Line Stoppers worked perfectly to isolate a section of the 36 inch PCCP water main. The new valve and flow meter were installed ahead of schedule saving the city and contractor time and money.
